Meet my Herd

Mona Birthday: 5/10/05

Mona was my first horse! My family purchased her when I was in middle school. She was beautiful, big, and a handful, and because of her, we found our way to Darby Oaks Stables in Bushnell for training. Darby Oaks has been a huge part of my life—if you know, you know! She and I learned a lot together over the years. I couldn’t have asked for a better first horse to learn from and be challenged by. She had one foal for me, Vinnie. She is now living her best retired life in my backyard.

Thru Birthday: 4/21/06

While Thru is technically still owned by Vaudry, I claim him as mine. I used to catch-ride him at events from 2016–2019 when he lived in Mississippi, but since the end of 2019 he has been with me at Darby Oaks Stables in Florida. He has carried me all across the country, earned me 8 buckles, and is the best boy. He is now enjoying his semi-retired life and still gives riding lessons to the kids at the barn. He is loved by so many people!

Sophia Birthday: 9/29/21

We got our sweet Sophia in early 2022. She is the first animal Mike and I picked out together. She is shy, but so sweet once she warms up to you.

Chloe Birthday: 3/26/22

Chloe is my sweetest girl. She came into our lives in 2022 and had big shoes to fill—but she rose to the challenge. She goes everywhere with me, so if you know me, you’ve probably met Chloe! She loves running around the barn, doing tricks, and getting snacks.

Luna Birthday: 6/7/22

We got Luna in late 2022 to be a friend for Sophia. At the time, we only had one pet at home most of the day, so when Mike showed me this kitten I said, “Why not?” She is a mama’s girl and a chunky monkey.

Frisky Birthday: Unknown

Frisky adopted my husband and me in early 2024. I was packing for a trip when she wandered up to me on our property—and she hasn’t left since! She sleeps with us at night and roams the property during the day. The best outdoor supervisor and guard cat there is.

Topaz Birthday: Unknown

In 2024, I rescued Topaz. Her purpose was to be a companion for an elderly mare, Flicka, we were housing at the time, and she did her job so well... They were besties! She now keeps Mona company in our backyard. She came to us feral and is determined to stay that way. We appreciate her from afar and occasionally get blessed with her presence in exchange for a cookie, watermelon, or apple.

Tortellini Birthday: Unknown

Last but not least is Tortellini! In early 2026, my husband jumped out of our truck to help a “gopher tortoise” across the road, but it turned out to be a Redfoot tortoise! We posted her online looking for her owners, but nobody came forward, so now she lives with us in our backyard. Strawberries and bananas are her favorite!

 

In Loving Memory

Cassie 2012-2022
Cassie was the first puppy I ever bought—crazy smart and loyal to her core. She lived through three homes with me and never got tired of chasing a ball or frisbee.

Vinnie 2014-2025
Vinnie was the first colt I ever raised—goofy, full of personality, and always the first one to come running up to the gate to say hi. We rode thousands of miles together, and I have so many memories with him that will always make me smile—he’ll forever be my best boy!

Flicka 1992-2026
Beautiful, sweet Flicka… Even though we only had the chance to give you a home for a year out of your 34, you touched so many lives in that time. You were the sweetest girl, and you will be so deeply missed.
